I already did too many things to fix a "new laptop", I'm disappointed and I guess I'm going to call Dell and ask about a replacement.

Now I'm using the driver version 16.10.0.5. I only had to remove one screw to remove the back cover of the laptop, and the existing half-high pcie wifi card was exposed.

I downloaded the Intel 3160 Wireless and Bluetooth drivers from the Intel site, and shutdown the laptop. I also tried the updated driver from intel: īut didn't helped at all, and I had to reinstall my Windows, just to be sure. For my Dell Latitude 6230, I wanted to add Bluetooth and enhance WiFi.
I changed it back to 2.4 Ghz, and now, the link between the laptop and the AP is 72 mbps. I configured both, the router and the 3160 to run on 5.2 Ghz, but my laptop disconnects even more often than before.
Last night I installed a dual band AP in my room just for this 500 pound laptop (sounds weird right?). The wifi signal from the router, in my room is -60 dbm (which is good), and the all the links between the router and the laptops (except the new one) are on 72 mpbs. I have tried updating drivers which say they are already up to date, i have run the dell troubleshoot which has made no difference, and i have tried other troubleshoots in the control panel which said it found a problem and said it was fixed however there has been absolutely no change so i am beginning to think that the wireless card may be faulty. I feel that this is not a problem with the router or my Wi-Fi in my home because the laptop i used prior to buying this one worked perfectly and other laptops in the house also get full bars of connection and high speeds in my room however my laptop does not.
The wireless adapter works fine when i am right next to the router however in my bedroom it is extremely slow even when there are a few bars of connection and so i am forced to use an Ethernet cable to connect. I very recently purchased the Dell Inspirseries laptop with the Intel (R) Dual Band Wireless AC-3160 however i have noticed that the connection to the Wi-Fi in my home when using wireless is extremely slow and the signal bar fluctuates from 1 bar to 5 and often just disconnects.
